The dataset describes active layer thickness, soil stratigraphy and characteristics (grain size analyses, soil liquid limit, plastic limit, plasticity index, carbonate content), volumetric ground ice content, and surface deposits. Soil characteristics were determined in the laboratory, and volumetric ice content was determined with a combination of visual estimates and laboratory measurements. Aircraft support in 1976 and 1977 was provided by Polar Continental Shelf Project of the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. The report was critically read by Dr. L.A.
